Growing response to flexible aluminium tubes
Customers in the automotive industry are finding Hydro’s flexible aluminium tube concept increasingly suitable for their fluid line needs. But the “Permeaflex” concept is also a viable alternative for use in non-automotive applications.
Hydro has taken the latest forming theory and simulation technology, and combined it with its own aluminium processing knowledge to offer customers the optimal flexible tube solution.
“We introduced the flexible aluminium tube concept as the first of its kind in the automotive market,” says Salvador Biosca, who is responsible for Hydro’s activities in the aluminium precision tubing business segment.
The concept absorbs some vibration and is permeation tight – and it eases the assembly of components, especially in tight spaces. In addition, Permeaflex is fully recyclable.
Some of the applications include:
• Air conditioning lines
• Power steering cooling
• Turbo drain tubes
• Fuel lines and fuel filler pipes
• Radiator hoses
• Gas and liquid lines
The concept is not limited to the automotive industry, and is equally applicable where vibration, ease of installation and cooling is required.
Permeaflex aluminium tubes are available in different alloys and surface conditions (3103, 5049, HA9048). Other alloys are available under request. Dimensional ranges depending on applications and surface conditions are also available upon request.
