Truck and bus
Aluminium in heavy goods vehicles shows clearly what consistent product development can achieve.
Outstanding properties
Low weight, combined with high energy absorption through plastic deformations represents an important safety aspect in the event of a crash, in particular for trucks transporting hazardous materials.
Low center of gravity
To achieve a low center of gravity for the vehicle, aluminium applications play a central role in the upper part of the vehicle.
Corrosion resistance
Some trailer applications, such as road tankers and boat trailers, are exposed to corrosive environments. We have developed corrosion-resistant alloys for these applications.
Weldability
Aluminium’s good welding characteristics and high resistance to corrosion make it a preferred material for the construction of heavy goods vehicles. We enhance these technical specifications during the manufacture of our extrusion, sheet or plate. Meeting the most exacting criteria with regard to surface quality and process tolerances is a must for us. On request, we supply sheet with sawn edges for optimum welding, for example.
Whether the product is a road tanker, dry-bulk tanker or an articulated tipping trailer, we offer the right solution for each application. Thanks to our know-how and innovation, the leading manufacturers of dry-bulk transporters and road tankers have found their solutions with Hydro products and services.
