Hydro presents the entire value chain when producing aluminium. From refining bauxite and generating its own electrical power, to producing primary aluminium and manufacturing products such as casthouse products, building systems, extrusions, rolled products, and automotive and transport.

In Brazil, Hydro is present with the production of aluminium extrusions and as a supplier of building systems and precision tubing products. The company is also active in alumina operations in Brazil. The company has about 435 employees in the country.
Hydro has several different activities, servicing different types of customers, at its site in Itu, near São Paulo. The extrusion plant, established in 1978, is the largest of the activities there. Hydro acquired the plant in 1997.
In addition, the company has automotive precision tubing activities, delivering aluminium tubing components and systems, and an aluminium remelt operation in Itu.
Hydro also has an ownership interest in the alumina refinery, Alumina do Norte do Brasil S.A. (Alunorte), which is considered one of the finest refineries in the world.
