Hydro presents the entire value chain when producing aluminium. From refining bauxite and generating its own electrical power, to producing primary aluminium and manufacturing products such as casthouse products, building systems, extrusions, rolled products, and automotive and transport.
In Italy, Hydro is present with aluminium extrusion, rolled products and building systems operations, and as a supplier of metal products. The company has about 1300 employees in Italy.
The aluminium strip plant, near Rome in Cisterna di Latina, Italy, was established in 1964 and taken over by Hydro in 2002. Its product range includes plain coils and sheet, and round blanks for pots and pans.
Hydro’s extrusion plant in Ornago serves general extrusion customers. The plant was established in 1964 and taken over by Hydro in 1986. Hydro’s aluminium building systems activity in Ornago was split from the extrusion plant in 1990.
The company also serves general extrusion customers from its extrusion plant in Atessa. This plant was founded in 1981 and taken over by Hydro in 1989.
