In Denmark, Hydro is present with aluminium extrusion and precision tubing operations, and as a supplier of structural components for automotive applications. The company has about 940 employees in Denmark.
Hydro is focused on delivering aluminium products from three separate plants in the country, each of which is based in the Southern Jutland city of Tønder.
The first plant established there by Hydro was the extrusion plant, which started operations in 1975. Its customers are interested primarily in general extrusion products.
The largest of the Hydro plants in Tønder is the aluminium precision tubing site, which was split from the extrusion plant in 1990. This plant, as well as the third – the structural components plant – delivers its products to customers in the automotive industry.
